User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars A Great Media Player
Compact and convenient unit. Plays almost any file type out there currently. The HDMI output provides excellent resolution on a big screen TV. I purchased this Media Player to connect to my Network Attached Server, instead of running a game unit (like PS3 or XBox 360) that would connect to my PC first. An excellent way to quickly access all media files on my NAS and view on a TV.

5 Stars Great Replacement for the Take TV
I purchased Western Digital WD TV HD Media Player as a gift for a friend. He had admired my Sansa Take TV. He has had the product for a few weeks now and he loves it. The display is simple and easy to use. I highly recommend this product if most of your media is digital. The only recommendation I would make is that you should buy a dedicated external hard drive as the load time for the Western Digital Media Player is fairly long.

5 Stars great media player
Great product, easy to use, and quality of movies played is very crisp and good. liked the versatility in the video format supported. Had an issue in being able support digital audio while using a projector. Used my lap to play HD video to get the audio working. Nonetheless, I would highly recommend this product for versatility, portability and easy to use.

5 Stars Good product
Good product to quickly view the images and videos on TV. Works fine with Hard drive that has Windows format but not with Mac – had to buy another Hard drive exclusively for this.

Also the sound quality was not great. While the videos sound good on my PC, they sound too loud and with lot of noise. Not sure if hard disk’s problem or player’s problem.

Overall good product – well imagined.

5 Stars Unbelievable VIDEO abilities, best than the rest for AUDIO and PICS

============================================

I waited until I installed the latest software ( 1.2.0.2) to give a documented appraisal on this little and cheap Item.

in a Word: for less than 100 dollars, Its a STEAL of a GIFTED product; NO OTHER under 1000$ qualifies for competition !

Pros : Reads brilliantly a huge range of encoding and encapsulating video formats.

Cons : Some lagging in responding to the remote commands. Nothing, given the price !

Whish List: a (reasonably) more expensive version with a LAN (ethernet) port to connect to my (home) network)

PS: I still do not believe in WiFi as a fan of HiQuality video. my opinion will chqage someday!

More details:

= VIDEO: On top of all the “classic” video formats, i confirm that this device plays nicely ( and surprisingly )

—- AVCHD in 1920*1080i (.MTS files) from Sony and Pana camcorders or Premiere rendering

—- MPEG2 encoded for HD BluRay coming from TMPGencExpress

—- MPEG2 in 1920*1080p at 35 Mbps ( which is my favorite intermediate codec for quick editing of both my AVCHD and CANON .Mov files)

The only HiDef files which are not quite handled are the 1920*1080p 35Mbps .MOV produced by my CANON 5D MkII video.

The video is there, but the Audio isnt. NB: Even my 2.4Mhz CoreDuo processor (Eithe Sony or Apple) cannot render the video without lost frames!

= AUDIO: Excellent restitution, but the interface is too slow to entice you to re-sell your iPod…

= PICTURES: same story, excellent output, but you lack your Mac( or Windows) mouse to browse through your collections..

= ERGONOMY: very easy to understand and use, with a somewhat sluggish response( you never know whether your remote command was acquire dok by the system…Easy improvement for th enext Firmare updtaes, which by the way, are effective and easy to install!

A remarquable achievement from people which were not involved in Video nor User interfaces yet !!!
