5 Stars Olympus VN6200PC
I already had a olympus recorder VN240 and it had alot of recording on it that i did not want to loose. So I purchased the VN6200 and played the old recorder to record the information on the new one VN6200. It worked great. But then I could not figure out how to transfer it to my PC. So I called the customer service number and tech support was great. They explained it to me and it was simple and I was able transfer the information to my PC and then I was able to make a CD out of it. This is gonna be great for school lecture or for any conversationI do not want to forget. I recommend this device to those who need to remember lectures or anything else and the price was great. The first one i purchased cost more than this one and my new one does more. Thank you
4 Stars I love plug and play on a PC
There are several digital recorders on the market in the price range of this Olympus. I chose this model for several reasons (see below) and have not been disappointed. The size, weight, screen, buttons and rocker switches are all well placed and, combined with their ample size, makes them easy to operate. The menu system is easy to navigate and is intuitive. In fact, it is so easy to use I only used the instruction manual to figure out how to play tracks in fast forward. The most important feature to me is the plug and play ability of the device (I tried it on Windows XP and Vista). Without installing ANY additional software, the device shows up in Windows Explorer as a new drive that contains your recordings in .wma format. This makes playing, burning and format conversion very simple. No buggy software to install and update. Easy to use between home and work. In a nut shell…
The Pros,
* Well laid out
* Really easy to use
* No extra software on Windows machines
* Records in a file format that needs no conversion to store and play on your PC
* It comes with a nice slip case
* Connects to the PC with a standard mini-USB
* The recording in the highest quality (71 hours) is very good
The Cons,
- The wrist band is an ACCESSORY. I can’t believe that cost cutting measure!
- The USB cable supplied is less than 8 inches long
- The recording quality in the longest mode is pretty poor (but you get 444 hours)
- The sound is hard to hear with the built in speaker when recorded in the longest play mode
For my meeting recording needs, this player hits the mark.
4 Stars Great for graduate school students
I needed a recorder for graduate school and this was in the perfect price range. The only issue is that some of my classes are in large lecture halls and the sound is not the greatest. I would recommend attaching a small microphone to increase the sound quality.
5 Stars A great recorder!
I had recently bought one for my daughter for classroom use. She was totally pleased with the ability to pick up conversations in the classroom. This one was purchased for recording my presentations and then making a cd for those who could not attend. The recording quality is excellent and is so easy to use.
5 Stars Easy To Use
I enjoy using this recorder. With the 5 file folders, I am able to keep the topics separate and not go through all of them to find the one I want.
Olympus ME 15 Microphone

Olympus ME-15 is a highly sensitive miniature tie-clip microphone with frequency response from 100 – 12.000 Hz. It is ideal solution to record your own voice or from other people nearby.

2 Stars Not that great
Simply put, this mic has slightly worse sound quality then the one built into the Olympus VN-5200PC (and I suspect most of the others). It is not remotely directional and can be expected to pick up the same sound whether you are pointing it at your subject or not. In other words, in a noisy room you can expect to get sound salad from everything more than 4 inches away from it.
The only situation where it would be usefull is one in which you need to have the mic close to your mouth and for some reason can’t pick up the 1 ounce digital recorder it is plugged into.
5 Stars Icing on the cake
This makes recording with my olympus digital recorder even better, picks up more and clears up the recording.
4 Stars Olympus ME-15 Mic
The ME-15 not to be confused with the ME-12 (which has no cord) is a great microphone to use with a digital recorder. It is very sensitive which is good if you are in a group and want to pick up comments from others (it will). The cord is pretty long, but not a major issue. I don’t like the alligator clip since it can damage your clothes when you attach it. I would suggest putting a piece of cloth on the teeth of the clip to prevent it from poking holes in your garments. The clip can not be moved up or down so the mic is pretty much where the clip is. For the price it was a good deal since I did not want to hold the recorder (RCA) while speaking and it had no way to clip to your clothes. Overall I am very satisfied.
4 Stars Great little mic
As with another reviewer I was using a self-powered mic which housed three small batteries and I had a lot of recording to do and didn’t want to have to worry about powering the mic, and so purchased this one. With the mic’s power derived from the recording unit itself, in this case a dv camcorder, I was free to natter away ad infinitum. The audio was clean and clip-free and so the mic is recommended.
I’m knocking off a star for the silver clip – bizarre they would include a chrome clip on a clip-mic, and also for the lack of cable length (around 3 feet).
5 Stars Olympus ME-15 Microphone
This is the exact same mike that comes bundled with some Olympus recorders. I cannot tell it from the other that I have that came bundled. It is exactly as advertised and arrived on time.

3 Stars Good product but…
I was looking for a voice recorder to capture my lectures but also be able to transfer them onto my computer for back up. The recording is very good quality but it’s frustrating that I am unable to transfer my recording. So, if you are looking for a “record and erase” voice recorder, this is the right one.
5 Stars college must
Get this for yourself or college student.
I went back to school after twenty years and bought this recorder incase i missed something during the lectures-boy am I glad I did! I have listened to the lecture recordings and noticed that I missed alot, even though I felt like I was paying attention.

5 Stars Nice Card
This card works fine. I wish they had larger cards since this types is necessary for the video feature.
5 Stars Works Great!
Im using it with my Olympus 530 Digital SLR and it works AWESOME! Fast Shipping as well!!!!
3 Stars not needed
If you are purchasing the Olympus Stylus Tough-8000 12 MP Digital Camera you DO NOT NEED the M+ card. The camera comes with a M+ to Micro SD adapter. Purchase an 8gig Micro SD card use the adapter. This will give you around 2200+ 12mb pictures.
I also used it to record video with no problems. I had 300 pictures with 3 15 minute video clips.
