5 Stars Canon Pixma MX860
Somewhat complicated to setup, but functions perfectly after the setup. The setup was complicated by my having transitioned to Snow Leopard prior to purchase. The CD that came with the multifunction did not work for this reason, so I had to do a manual setup using the Snow Leopard compatible drivers and programs on the Canon support site.
The scan function did provide a scan that when emailed was too blurry for printing. This happened even with multiple attempts.
Other than that a great Canon product. The wireless functionality is wonderful for the 3 Macs in the house.
5 Stars Now my 4 sons want one too!
Great machine! Does everything but sing and dance, and it might do that too since I haven’t learned all there is to learn about it. Print quality is great. Fax works so easily and quickly. Scans quickly. Automatic duplex feeder is so sweet! I haven’t had to replace the ink yet, but rated it a 5 anyway, because whatever it costs… it’s worth it. Everyone that sees it swears it’ll be the next kind they buy!
4 Stars All in one photo printer
overall excellent.. beware, however, that installation was NOT seamless/ NOT easy on my IMac with snow leopard. In order to get all components/ guides, I had to call technical support to talk me through the complete installation. Tech support was great in doing so. Just beware that there are installation problems unless you go through tech support… so, be sure to register your product!!
5 Stars Amazon #1
Not a high tech guy , but I like the printer. Perfect for low tech people. The best thing is Amazon.com. Got it fast,in good condition and cheaper than any store. Just like almost everything else I’ve ordered on Amazon. I love my Amazon!!! I hope the government doesnt mess with it (taxes, etc.) Because they will screw it up just like everything else!!!
5 Stars Works well, replaced my old Pixma IP400 with it
The main reason I went for this printer was it’s wireless capabilities. I had a few issues with the Mac drivers provided not being Snow Leopard compatible, and then the ones downloaded from the website didn’t work so well either. Through googling, I figured out a workaround and got it set up. Now all my wireless Mac laptops can print directly to the printer without having to have a shared network computer that hosts the printer, a definite plus.
Easy to use, and the print quality is what I’d expect from a Canon printer. It’s not a color laser printer, but if you’re looking for a compact all in one office machine, this is a good choice.

4 Stars Good product, but….
Printing a lot less color prints, because of price. Never thought I’d try generic ink, but taking a chance.
1 Star Wrong Ink Cartridge
I used Amazon’s Ink & Toner finder for my MP600. I was shipped the 8PM model when I actually needed the 8M. I opened the package and now I can’t return it so I’m out $15. Don’t trust the ink finder. It said that the 8PM was for my MP600 printer.
3 Stars Amazon says this is the right tank for my printer: It isn’t!
There has been a lot of criticism here of people who’ve complained that they ordered the wrong tank, i.e., a CLI-8PM, when they should have ordered a CLI-8M. Well the same thing happened to me. And guess what? On the page where the tank is displayed, Amazon has a box which says:
“Will this work with my printer?” It then (somehow) correctly figures out what printer I have and announces: “Yes, this will work with the Canon iP5200R printer.” Well, it won’t.
I had to spend $9.99 with Canon tech support last night to find out why my printer wasn’t recognizing my new tank from Amazon. The answer was it WON’T work in the iP5200R. Yes, I probably should have paid more attention, but Amazon pointed me to this tank and told me it would work.
So, this is supposed to be a review of the ink. Ok. I’ve had this printer for nearly four years and it makes beautiful prints. But the ink tanks drain rapidly, even when you’re not using color. I think this occurs because of the automatic cleaning cycle before printing. Also, the ink tanks have plenty of ink remaining when the entire printer shuts down and demands you get a new tank. You can’t even print a letter if, for instance, any of the color tanks are “empty.” So I give the ink quality five stars, but drop it by two stars for the excessive ink use and the way it shuts down until all tanks are refilled, even when they’re far from empty.
Amazon needs to get its act together on this. It’s not worth it for me to return a fifteen dollar leaky ink tank. Instead I’m going out today to buy an HP. I’ve had enough of Canon’s ink shenanigans.
1 Star Fix your “will this fit my printer?” gizmo please, Amazon
Having read the arguments as to whether people were reading the product information incorrectly or what, I thought I would try the “will this fit my printer?” gizmo. It told me that this product *will* fit my printer (a Pixma iP4300) when it WILL NOT.
So, Amazon, sort your gizmo as it is actively misleading your customers.
1 Star Don’t Trust Amazon’s Ink and Toner Finder tool
I checked Amazon’s Ink and Toner Finder tool or the Will This Work with Your Printer? tool that appears with the Ink description according to that the Ink i ordered works with my Printer, After ordering receiving this Ink tank and installing on my printer, a Canon MX700 the Ink tank was not recognized…. Instead of the CLI-8PM I Needed the CLI-8M, but Amazon’s tool still shows that this is the correct Ink for my printer when It is not… Now I can’t return the ink as I opened the box.
