Canon EF S 55 250mm f 4 0 5 6 IS Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras

Bring your photographic subjects closer with this Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer Telephoto Zoom Lens. It is designed with Canon’s Optical Image Stabilizer technology and is compact and light. This high zoom ratio lens is equivalent to a focal length of 88-400mm in the 35mm format (when used on Canon EOS cameras compatible with EF-S lenses). The image stabilizer effect is equivalent to a shutter speed about 4 stops faster than the same size lens without Image Stabilizer. In other words, if the slowest shutter speed you could formerly hold a 250mm lens steadily was 1/250th of a second, with Canon’s 4-stop stabilization correction, you could hand-hold at shutter speeds as slow as 1/15th of a second. It also uses a UD-glass lens element to correct chromatic aberration for excellent image quality throughout the zoom range. Filter Size – 58mm Max. Diameter – x Length 2.8 in. x 4.3 in./70 x 108mm (maximum lens length) Weight – 13.8 oz./390g Canon 1 year limited warranty

3 Stars It works!!!!
I’ve had this lens for more than a year. With it’s price, I didn’t expect much from it. Decent lens, light, well enough build. It doesn’t produce the sharpest images. But I got a lot of good pictures from it. One thing that bother me the most is the color is off even on a nice sunny day.
Overall, it’s a good lens to start. But I’m ready to get a better one.
4 Stars New Owner
I purchased my first Canon digital camera and was surprised to learn how easy it was to use the camera. Then someone mention a telephoto lens for some closer and better shots and I purchased a Canon EF-S 55-250mm and they where right.I am happy about my purchase and more than pleased with my purchased.
5 Stars Canon Telephoto lense
The Canon lenses are great quality. I purchased this as a refurbished item through Amazon and have not been disappointed.
Highly recommend – b
4 Stars Good enough for me!
As a recreational photographer. Mostly youth sports. This lens gave me everything I needed.
I can shoot a soccer game from just about anywhere on the sidelines. And the shots that don’t quite fill the frame, I crop and everything looks good on the computer screen and after printing.
Only complaint (or better yet, aggrevation) is the zoom mechanics as far as motion goes. You really need to “twist it”. This isn’t as smooth as the kit lens. It reacts like it needs some lubrication so the zoom extends more easily. Not a big deal, but that’s the only thing I noticed as far as the lens goes.
For the money and the zoom range you can’t do any better.
5 Stars OMG!
Maybe I just got lucky, but I LOVE this lens! Yes, it is plastic (which can be a good thing, since it’s lighter and smaller than comparable zooms). And come on, I only paid $250!
The images from this lens are tack sharp with bokeh that is pleasing to the eye, though not as smooth and buttery as some would like. For me, this is fine, as a bit of post-processing can help if needed.
In most lighting (even in the dark!) this lens focuses relatively quickly compared to the Canon 18-200mm lens I’m replacing. The only time I found it slow to focus is in very low light, low contrast scenes, with the lens zoomed past 200mm. However, that is an issue with many zoom lenses in this price range (and higher). IS works well and is pretty quiet. Zooming/focusing is smooth with no lens creep whatsoever. Oh, and it doesn’t drain my battery too quickly, like some competitors’ zoom lenses.
Also, I see NO evidence of fringing in 99% of the high-contrast photos taken with this lens on my 50D. In the small number of pictures that display fringing, it is minimal and of a neutral color, NOT purple. Overall, I’m very impressed with the functionality, ease of use and picture quality for the price paid. This lens is a big winner for me and will find a happy home alongside the Canon 50mm f/1.4 and Canon 10-22mm wide angle.
After trying some very positively reviewed lenses from Tamron and Sigma, I’ve decided no one knows Canon cameras like Canon. I doubt I’ll buy another lens from any other company in the future. Go Canon!!!

5 Stars Great camera. Better than the tough-6000
Great camera. I use it in my watersports business and I destroyed the Tough- 6000 in 3 weeks. This one is tougher and has lasted the whole summer.
5 Stars Great camera for active lives!
I bought this for my husbands birthday & anniversary gift, we got it 2 days before leaving for Mexico, we had no problems figuring out how to use the camera, we took it on all our vacation excursions, it was perfect for an active vacation! We took underwater photos, photos in the rain & on the windy beach. The picture quality is great. My daughter has had the model under this one for a couple of years and still loves it, for us it’s worth a little extra money to have peace of mind while traveling that if we drop it or get caught in the rain we don’t have to worry about a broken device! And we love the option of using the camera underwater, we took pics in a underwater caves!
5 Stars Picture perfect!
Excellent product. Everything I thought it would be. Great value for the money. Quick and courteous service.
4 Stars Olympus Stylus 8000
Noticed a few very small drops in the charging well, wiped out easily with a kleenex. Followed product insert and rinsed well between used. Camera performed very well. However, notice some pictures in the water looked like had “rain spots” on them, maybe bubbles on the lens? It wasn’t on all pictures. Still playing with the settings, trying to optimize pictures. For 12 MP, could be clearer in the water and out of the water. At this point, I certainly would buy the camera again. I highly recommend buying the floating strap.
4 Stars Tough 8000
Bought the camera for a trip to Mexico in Nov. So far good camera with the tests have put it thru, including water test and college football game. Good pics. Found at a good price. I like the extra settings for snow, water, night; a lot of features in a little camera. Will really give it a workout in Nov. when in Mexico; planning on snuba diving, deep sea fishing, Chichen Itza, and snorkeling. I also liked that it came with a microSD Olympus adapter, good call Olympus.

5 Stars this canon 500d is awesome
this is an entry level dslr but the features are comparable to a professional dslr and i’m only using an 18-200 canon lens. how much more if i am using the more expensive ones. I’m a point and shoot camera guy and i never had any problem with the shift to dslr because of the ease in operation of he camera. I did not regret buying this camera.
4 Stars Good product but bad seller!
It’s unbelievable to notice Amazon Customer service is bad! Yet another outsourced service! The rep, had no clue on matching the price-drop!
5 Stars Better than the first
I have had this camera for about 3 weeks now and I must say I love it. I purchased it to replace my older Canon Rebel 6.1 mp which I also loved and still do. (though its only a still picture camera) Its a great backup. This new Rebel T1i 15.1 mp has many options but what I really like is the HD video camera feature. No more bringing a separate video camera on vacation. This is a perfect all in one camera. I also bought the Canon 18-200 mm zoom lense which truly makes the camera and all in one. Its a little smaller than my old one and a lot lighter. The only thing that might not be 5 star would be the shutter sound. It’s kind of loud but not a turn off in no way. Just have to get used to. Having said that, once I shoot with my old camera (hearing the lack of sound) and then shoot with the new camera (more sound) I am finding myself liking the new sound better. The battery is smaller and lighter and seems to last longer except when using the video mode, then it goes pretty quick. Best to get a backup battery anyway, especially if your going to be taking alot of pictures or video such as on vacation. I also purchased to San Disk Ultra 11 16GB, works great with the video BUT my card reader doesnt work with it. I have to unload the photos/video using the cable. It unloads very fast just a little inconvenient.
5 Stars Canon T1i 15.1 very nice camara
When I was looking at cameras I read that the lens that comes with this camera was not very good. I bought the camera with the lens anyway. I figured that if I didn’t like the lens I could always get a better one. I have had a few days of picture taking in the New Mexico and Arizona areas. This camera and lens are great. The lens takes very sharp pictures from the balloon launch at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta to petroglyphs and close ups of petrified wood. I used my 75-300 zoom lens from my old Canon EOS film camera to shoot wild life at long distance and that lens worked great as well. The camera processes each shot so quickly that it can rapid fire without hesitation. Either the people who did not like the lens are much better at photography than I am or they don’t know what they are talking about.
5 Stars My first DSLR, love it
I used to use point-and-shoot cameras, produced many pictures which most time looks plain. My friend recommanded this one to me. Still learning, but overall very happy with it. Love a lot features. Highly recommanded for beginners like me.

5 Stars Changes the way I take photos
Having a bright light source off-camera instead of built in really changes the way you take photos. I use my SB-600 wirelessly in tandem with my D80 and it can improve nearly any situation.
I’d say one of the only downsides is the lack of control buttons, most of the options you have to hold down multiple buttons at once to access them.
The SB-600 itself syncs great, is reliable, and nice and bright. It rotates in 180 degrees in one direction and 90 degrees in another (do you need more?)
5 Stars Amazing capabilities and power for the money!
The product description above, and all the other reviews below cover every detail of this flash’s capabilities, so I won’t repeat them.
I just wanted to come on here and add my statment that I simply love, love, love this easy to use yet powerful flash.
I have shot three weddings using this mounted to my camera, two on a D70s and the latest on my new D90. The brides all LOVED the photos.
The later two weddings I used the SB-600 for, I had the Sto-Fen Omnibounce mounted on the flash the whole time. I hardly ever take the Omnibounce off any more, it improves flash photos so much, and it makes fill flashing outdoors a breeze. Bride’s skin tones simply glow with the Omnibounce on the SB-600.
Yeah, I’d have loved to have had the cash to spring for the top-of-the-line, but I am glad I didn’t. The only possible reason I would ever upgrade from this was if I became a full-time pro and wanted the extra power just in case. I’d never use the multiple flash idea, I much prefer Novatron light sets for multi-light situations.
This SB-600 has done everything from snapshots of family around home, fill flash outdoors, to group get-togethers at church, to formal wedding photography with nary a hitch.
Unless you need a gamma-ray burst like the SB-800 and 900s put out, this SB-600 will satisfy you, I promise. (Y’all know I’m just kidding about the bigger flash putting out gamma-rays, right? GR’s will kill ya.)
5 Stars Very happy
After reading the reviews for the sb-900 and how the over heat sensors were too sensitive on them I decided to go with the sb-600 for that reason. I will just have to be carefull not to burn out the flash.
4 Stars SB-600 Speedlight Flash
Good product; effective lighting of scenes under various difficult situations. It is a bit heavy for my Nikon D60, and I wish some prior recommendations had been published on this. It makes the camera top heavy, and difficult to carry from the shoulder strap without having to hold on to the camera.
1 Star Good Product Bad Business Practice
I just received this product last night. I ordered it using free shipping and received it within 3 workdays which was fantastic. The product is also great as are the images I’ve been able to produce with my D90.
The low score has nothing to do with the product itself but the fact that I received a USED or REFURBISHED product!
I have plenty of experience purchasing products online and electronics themselves and there are visible, obvious signs of use. The plastic wrapping is not quite pristine, the scuff marks, the miscellaneous prints on the glossy plastic parts and worse yet, strange miscellaneous gunk marks.
Nothing was sealed, there was physical folding damage to the manuals and scratches on the hot shoe. Obvious signs of use.
I normally get great service from Amazon directly, this was a severe disappointment. It may have only been used for a short while but with products like these and a set life span, it is unfair to charge me full price for something that is billed as new.
I will be returning it, hopefully for a full refund or NEW replacement.
